A Worcestershire business outsourcing firm has donated £1,000 to a charity that supports vulnerable and distressed children across the region.
Redditch-based Sigma Connected, which provides contact centre services across the utilities, retail, telecommunications and financial services sectors, has donated the money to Mentor Link.
It will be used by the charity to offer further listening and mentoring support to children across Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands – helping them to recover from and deal with issues including self-harm, bullying, bereavement and family breakdowns.
The funds have been donated to Mentor Link through Sigma’s Community Foundation through which the company has pledged to donate at least £12,000 every year to good causes, charities and community projects nominated for by Sigma Connected employees.
Gary Gilburd, CEO of Sigma Connected, said: “We see our Charitable Foundation as the perfect and most effective way to support and make a difference in the local communities where our employees live and work.
“We have a responsibility to help where and how we can which is why we established the Community Foundation – making sure we listen to our 4,000 employees about where the money should go.
“Mentor Link does a huge amount of work to support children who are struggling and I hope our donation can go some way to helping more children in need and provide them with mentoring and guidance to help them in the future.”
Andrea Maddocks MBE, Founder, CEO & Trustee of Mentor Link, added: “I’d like to give a huge thank you to Sigma Connected for donating £1,000 to Mentor Link and helping local children who need support they cannot find elsewhere. We are so grateful for their donation, especially after such a challenging time for us due to the Covid pandemic. It truly will help our programme in so many ways across the region.”
The charity was successfully nominated by Sigma employee Mark Warmington, who volunteered for 10 months for Mentor Link in 2017 – working with children in schools to provide support and guidance on a range of issues affecting them.
