Winners of first Hull and East Yorkshire People in Business announced

15th Jul

With more than 400 people in attendance, businesses from across the region joined together to celebrate the best of local talent at this sold-out event, recognising both individual and team achievements.
Selected by a panel of high-profile judges known for their wealth of experience and business acumen, the chosen winners demonstrated exceptional contribution to their workplace, with excellent performance against targets and a generally positive attitude within their team.
With BBC Apprentice 2008 winner Lee McQueen acting as compere for the evening, guests enjoyed a three course meal, and danced to the UK’s favourite party band The Tzars, who got guests onto the dancefloor after the awards were announced.
Key speaker Rob Forkan also spoke of his emotional story of becoming an orphan in the 2004 tsunami, and how him and his brother have used their experience in order to help others, and create a successful lifestyle brand.
A silent auction and sealed envelope pledge also took place throughout the evening, raising money for the award’s chosen charity, The Smile Foundation.
The first of its kind in the area, the Hull and East Yorkshire People in Business Awards (HEYPIBAs) has a vision to raise the profile of hard-working, talented and dynamic team members and groups that stand out from the crowd and go above and beyond in their roles.
Jo Fleming, founder of the Hull and East Yorkshire People in Business Awards, said of the evening: “When first creating the HEYPIBAs, I was keen to give employees the recognition they deserved for their hard work. Supporting talent in all areas of a business is essential in order for them to grow, which is why we decided to focus on both individual team members and companies as a whole.
“The evening was a great success, and it was encouraging to see people from all industries and levels come together to `acknowledge our worthy winners. We can’t wait for 2020 already!”
