University of Hull climbs 17 places in national rankings

10th Jun

Published on June 9, the rankings see the university singled out as one of the biggest risers in the UK, climbing from 81st to 64th in the table.
The University of Hull is now jointly ranked in 64th place with the University of the West of England, Bristol and – along with Arts University Bournemouth – is one of the two joint biggest positive movers in the table this year, with both rising by 17 places.
The University of Hull is also the biggest riser in the North of England.
The main league table is based on 10 measures: Entry Standards, Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Graduate Prospects, Student-Staff Ratio, Spending on Academic Services, Spending on Student Facilities, Good Honours Degrees, and Completion. It includes 130 institutions.
Professor Susan Lea, vice-chancellor of the university, said: “I am absolutely delighted to see the University of Hull rising in the rankings of the Complete University Guide 2021 for the second year running.
“I am sure that our students, staff, applicants and graduates will be pleased to celebrate and share in this positive news which is welcome recognition of all the hard work, commitment and expertise across the university.
“It is typical of our staff that since lockdown, they have gone above and beyond to help and support our students during the transition to online learning, while others have worked around-the-clock to support the NHS and other healthcare organisations in a variety of ways.
“We fully appreciate that our applicants are dealing with the uncertainty of A-level grades and starting their university experience under challenging circumstances.
“I hope that this announcement provides them with reassurance that the University of Hull will put their needs first. We are ambitious for their future and will be working hard to build further on this success.”
