Thursfields’ latest Talk Legal webinar focuses on returning to the workplace

13th Jul

The various legal issues involved in returning to the workplace after Covid-19 will be the focus of a free Thursfields Solicitors webinar later this month.

The Zoom-based event from 10am on Wednesday, July 28 will start with a short vidcast from Helena Morrissey (above), director and head of employment law at Thursfields, and she will then appear “live” for a question and answer session.

Ms Morrissey will offer guidance on key areas of employment law as businesses work out their “new normal”, be that remote working, hybrid working or a full return to the office, plus how best to manage employee requests.

The Thursfields Talk Legal event, titled Back to the future – a return to the workplace?’, is expected to last around 45 minutes, including questions and answers.

Ms Morrissey said: “The pandemic has meant that many employees have been furloughed, or working from home for well over a year.

“That means that with the release of lockdown, employers should be turning their thoughts to a ‘new normal’ and how they’re now going to manage a ‘return to the workplace’.

“Some employers will want people back in the office full time, others will be happy to allow their workforce to stick with the remote working model, and the majority will probably do a mixture of both.

“However, it’s inevitable that employers will receive many requests to continue working at home for some or all of the time, which is effectively a flexible working request.

“We will discuss all of these and other related issues during our webinar and advise employers on the best way to handle them from an employment law perspective.”

The webinar is the latest in Thursfields’ Talk Legal series which was launched at the start of the lockdown to ensure the company continued its regular free workshops for businesses and the community.
