TechBites event in aid of #DoItForJosh

25th Oct

GB Recruitment is hosting a TechBites event to raise money for the #DoItForJosh campaign.
The campaign is in support of Joshua Barnfather, who was born with a rare skin condition. The genetic disorder means Josh has a reduced ability to repair damage caused by UV light.
Despite avoiding UV light as much as possible to protect his skin, Josh, 30, has been diagnosed with skin cancer and needs specialist treatment to extend his life.
He is now raising money to fund that treatment with the support of members of the C4DI building in Hull where Josh works.
After a successful event for this year’s Humber Business Week, GB Recruitment decided to host another TechBites event in aid of Josh’s appeal.
Antonio Tombanane, GB Recruitment operations director (left), said: “At GB Recruitment, we are specialists in placing candidates in Hull’s growing digital sector so we work closely with C4DI.
“When we heard about Josh’s appeal, we really wanted to do something to help so we decided to set-up another TechBites event after the first proved to be so popular.
“We really hope as many people as possible will come along to support Josh and learn more about the tech industry at the same time.”
The TechBites event will feature speaker Neil Cattermull, an industry leading analyst, futurist and technology advocate.
Neil’s career in the sector spans 30 years and he has held positions in companies ranging from major banking institutions to running his own IT businesses. He has also consulted all over the world on technology business models for firms such as IBM, Merrill Lynch and Oracle.
Neil is a keen blogger and analyst with a unique perspective on technology that is entertaining, engaging, factual and enjoyable. Having seen multiple technology cycles, he has an in-depth understanding of the applicability of current trending tech to business objectives.
GB Recruitment has seen rapid growth since its launch in 2016. It recently moved to prominent new premises in Castle Street, in the heart of Hull’s tech community.
TechBites takes place at DoubleTree by Hilton Hull, Ferensway, city centre, on Wednesday, November 7 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Tickets cost £10 (plus £3.07 booking fee and VAT). Food and drink will be served on the evening. Book your place online here.
