Lucy Eggleston, 20, inspired her father, Mark, to run the 13.1 mile Humber half-marathon for the Queen’s Centre at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham.
The University of Sheffield Hallam student challenged Mark, MD of WJ Group, to do the race after the centre recently cared for Lucy’s grandfather, Philip Wright.
She said: “The Queen’s Centre looked after my granddad throughout his treatment for oesophageal cancer which is why my dad and I decided to run the Humber Bridge half-marathon.
“We’re really proud to have raised this money to support the centre as they continue to do amazing work to help people like Granddad.”
Mark said the pair had exceed their fundraising target and were proud to visit the centre to present the cheque.
Mark said: “We’d like to thank everyone who supported us, especially the WJ Group customers and clients who donated money for this brilliant cause.
“We’d set a target to raise £1,000 but collected a grand total of £2,904 in the end which is fantastic for the centre.”
Mark, 51, founded WJ Group in 2007, supplying high-quality timber engineering and high-pressure timber treatments.
