STP Construction and UK Land Estates unveil latest project

16th Dec

Development has begun on the construction of a new 35,855 sq ft hi-spec industrial unit on Eighth Avenue East on the Team Valley Trading Estate in Gateshead.

NorthEast-based building and civil engineering firm STP Construction is leading the build, working closely with land developer UK Land Estates to deliver one of Team Valley’s newest industrial units.

The development site, which extends to 2.2 acres, has been given planning permission for light industrial, general industrial, storage and distribution uses. Once completed, the unit will boast a photovoltaic array producing 138 kWp, an internal height of 9.25m (underside of haunch), and will include office accommodation with a full-height glazed reception area, a mezzanine area, 30 onsite car parking spaces and a separate secure service yard.

Ian Cowling, managing director at STP Construction, said: “UK Land Estates has been a valued client of STP since the company was founded in 2003, and we are pleased to continue this trading relationship into 2023 with this prestige project.”

With transport links being a major plus factor for the development and being ideally situated for access to the A1, Ports of Tyne and Sunderland, and Newcastle Airport, it is expected that there will be a significant amount of interest in the facility, which is due to complete in April 2023.

Adrian Bartle, construction director at UK Land Estates, said: “We are delighted to be working with STP Construction again on this project and adding a further purpose-built sustainable unit to the choices we can offer our customers from our extensive portfolio. Offering desirable places to work in the best locations and with good transport links and flexible options is central to our approach as a trusted provider of commercial space”.

The development on Eighth Avenue is further supported by civil and structural engineering specialists Portland Consulting Engineers, Newcastle-based FaulknerBrowns and Kinetic Engineers Limited, ground engineering contractor Van Elle, DP Landscape Architecture and global property and construction consultancy Gleeds.
