New engineering company points to future success

31st May

Point Eng, started by managing director Paul Waters, is employing some of the highly skilled staff from the former Point Engineering (Hull) that announced it was to close last year.
Mr Waters has purchased the intellectual property and specialist equipment to start the company, which he says will focus on providing a problem-solving approach along with excellent service levels and workmanship.
“It has been my intention to have my own engineering business, so Point Engineering (Hull)’s closure offered me an opportunity,” said Mr Waters who worked for 16 years at the company as production manager.
“I am very pleased that I’m in the position to employ some of the accomplished team and commence the journey of shaping my new company. The intention is to grow through providing a fantastic service and through innovative approaches to client projects.”
Point Eng has already secured contracts in the marine, renewables and manufacturing sectors in Yorkshire, the south coast, the Shetland Islands and Sweden since it started trading this Spring. Mr Waters intends to gain further contracts manufacturing products for the maritime industries building on the business’s location close the Humber ports.
In addition to employing nine of the Point Engineering Hull team, another staff member has been recruited making the new jobs total 10.
Point Eng offers welding and fabrication of bespoke structures with full concept to completion capability including 3D design and consultation services. It also provides shot blasting and renovation of steel and non-ferrous items. It will continue operating from Lee Smith Street, East Hull.
It was announced last December that Point Engineering Hull was to close with the loss of 22 jobs following a difficult trading period.
