Much-loved Indian restaurant unveils new name and brand identity

17th Oct

Tapasya in Hull’s Holderness Road has rebranded as Ruthvika Spices and Kitchen.

The restaurant offers well-known favourites and signature dishes with small bites, grilled mains, curries and an extensive menu for vegetarians and vegans.

The rebrand and new name represents a new direction for owner Mukesh Tirkoti.

Aptly named as the goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom and learning, Ruthvika is a new concept restaurant offering fine dining and much more.

Dishes on the menu combine expert knowledge of Indian food and learnings from the best restaurants around the world, with a twist on health and nutrition from traditional Ayurveda medicine.

Mukesh said: “Business continues to increase as customers become familiar with what’s on offer and after a year and a half in this location, we felt the time was right to establish our new identity.

“We’ve been getting to know the local community, people’s tastes and have experimented with brand new dishes which are unique to this restaurant.

“In the UK, Indian deserts are less popular than savoury dishes. Our chefs have tried out new ideas, getting the seal of approval from regular guests. Ruthvika’s desert menu includes ingredients from beetroot and rice to figs and doughnuts as well as our own artisan ice cream.

“It’s been wonderful to find that people travel from around the region especially to eat here, especially when there are so many Indian restaurants. People from North Lincolnshire and around East Yorkshire choose us to experience original spice blends which create unique flavours.”

In addition to the restaurant, the business supplies exclusive imported spices from suppliers in India. Some are popular and well-known, other, lesser known ingredients help to inspire discerning guests, yet remain affordable enabling people to gather and create memorable occasions, sharing happiness, comfort, chatter and laughter.

Thali includes a starter, main and dessert of any choice from the menu. This is popular in many restaurants but Mukesh has been the first to offer this as a takeaway option, becoming popular with business clients who can try different dishes on one plate.

Mukesh added: “We opened Tapasya Spices and Kitchen just after lockdown, as takeaway only. This side of the business has developed and continues to grow each month, mainly via word of mouth as more and more customers tell their friends and family.

“Outside catering has also become a large part of the business, with various events over the last 12 months, our chefs cater events from 20-350 guests.

“A recent addition to the restaurant is the Chef’s Table, a private area for 15 people in front of the open kitchen to view the masters at work.

“The rebrand is a sign of positive things to come. Watch this space for news about more features on offer at Ruthvika.”
