Milly Rose: the vivacious entrepreneur transforming city’s creative scene

09th Oct

Milly Rose, the dynamic force behind Fantastic Faces, exemplifies entrepreneurial spirit and resilience.

As the owner of one of Hull’s most beloved face painting and creative entertainment companies, her journey from a single parent on the breadline to a thriving business owner is inspirational. Recently, she was invited to mentor and give talks at the University of Hull’s new Creative Growth programme.

Milly’s path to success was not straightforward. Facing numerous personal and professional challenges, she has always approached obstacles with determination and creativity. From a young age, Milly wanted to bring joy and colour into people’s lives. However, starting a business in a competitive industry with limited resources was daunting.

She recalls the early days vividly: “There were moments when I questioned if I could make it. But I knew giving up was not an option. Each setback was a lesson, and each success, no matter how small, was a step towards my larger goal.”

Fantastic Faces began as a small venture, offering face painting services at local events and children’s parties. Milly’s exceptional artistic talent and her ability to connect with clients quickly set her apart. As the business grew, she diversified her offerings to include bespoke event packages, wellbeing sessions and business coaching.

What distinguishes Fantastic Faces is Milly’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. She handpicks and trains her team, ensuring every event leaves a lasting impression. Her innovative designs and professional approach have won her accolades and a loyal customer base across Hull and beyond.

Milly’s entrepreneurial journey has made her a sought-after mentor and speaker. As a Creative Growth mentor, Milly shares her experiences and insights with aspiring business owners. “Every entrepreneur faces challenges,” she says. “The key is to view these challenges as opportunities for growth. Your mindset determines your success.”

Her sessions cover aspects of entrepreneurship, from developing a unique value proposition and effective marketing strategies to managing finances and building a strong brand. Her real-world experiences provide invaluable lessons that resonate deeply with her mentees.

Milly’s talks are about more than business mechanics – they address the human aspect of entrepreneurship. She shares candid stories of her journey, including the highs, lows and moments of self-doubt and triumph.

“I want to show people that success is possible, no matter where you start,” she adds. “It’s about having a vision, working hard, and not being afraid to take risks. If my story inspires even one person to pursue their dreams, I consider that a success.”

Beyond her business achievements, Milly is committed to enriching the lives of young people and children in her community. She collaborates with local schools, youth groups and community centres to offer creative workshops that promote wellbeing and self-expression. These initiatives provide a safe environment for children to explore creativity, build confidence and develop social skills.

Milly also offers her expertise for team building days, inspirational talks and public speaking sessions. Her talks are filled with personal anecdotes, practical advice and motivational insights.
