Major Partners join with Marketing Humber to meet climate change challenge

18th Jul

The partners have become the latest organisations to pledge their support for Marketing Humber and its work to position the region as a world leader in the transition to low-carbon economies.
As part of an ambitious new strategy, the Humber’s place marketing agency has joined with the University of Hull to launch a powerful, long-term campaign, called the Waterline, to develop new economic models that deliver environmental sustainability and economic growth through decarbonisation.
The campaign recognises that the Humber is among the coastal regions around the world listed as at high risk due to rising sea levels and increasing flood threat caused by climate change. It also builds on the Humber’s status as a major industrial cluster and ever-growing reputation as the UK’s leading centre for renewable energy generation.
Now more leading employers have come together as Marketing Humber Major Partners and will support the pioneering strategy to put the Humber on the global map.
They joined with other business representatives for a launch event and lunch at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Hull when they heard how they could support Marketing Humber to deliver on its ambitions.
Marketing Humber chairman Andy Parkinson told the partners the decarbonisation drive also presented a huge economic opportunity for the Humber.
“This is about marketing the Humber in a very different way and uniting people and organisations behind the climate challenge,” he said.
“We have a huge opportunity in the Humber because there’s a gold rush for technology investment to develop solutions that decarbonise the world. We are the perfect living lab for decarbonisation – why can’t the Humber be a low-carbon innovation zone.”
The Marketing Humber Major Partners are:

Jane Goult, business development marketing manager of px group, said: “As a major investor, we have demonstrated our confidence in the region and are delighted to become a Major Partner, supporting Marketing Humber’s work to champion the area and to secure further investment.
“In the drive to capitalise on the huge economic opportunities decarbonisation offers, the Humber’s significance as the UK’s energy estuary – and one of the country’s leading industrial clusters – will surely play a big part.
“This exciting future matches our own ambitions to establish Saltend Chemicals Park as an engine for long-term economic growth and a key player in the development of renewable energy operations.”
Paul Tofton, a partner of chartered accountants Forrester Boyd, which has offices on both banks of the Humber, said: “We’re proud to become a Major Partner and support Marketing Humber’s work to promote the region and particularly the drive to be a leader in decarbonisation.
“All of the partners are serving the area in our own ways and we all want the Humber to thrive. Becoming a Marketing Humber Major Partner is a powerful way to demonstrate that commitment.”
Marketing Humber managing director Diana Taylor said: “We’re delighted to have these Major Partners on board. They are all progressive, forward-thinking organisations and have demonstrated their commitment to working with us to drive the region forward.
“All of our Major Partners are leading organisations in their fields and bring to us a great deal of credibility and expertise, as well as financial backing.”
