As part of the IHG group, the Holiday Inn Express is offering the IHG Clean Promise, which will guarantee that each room has been deep-cleaned and that high-touch points are routinely disinfected. Every member of staff has received training in these new deep-cleaning measures.
To prevent the risk of cross-contamination, we have removed bed throws, cushions, pads and pens from each room.
As BW magazine went to press, we were waiting to hear whether the two-metre rule would be relaxed. If we move to the one-metre rule, this will allow us more flexibility for guests to enjoy breakfast sittings in the restaurant. We are aiming to offer ‘to-go bags’, which will contain wrapped breakfast food such as breakfast bars, peelable fruit, sealed crackers, cheese, and wrapped muffins.
We have also installed sanitising stations in various places around the hotel, such as outside lifts on each floors, at the reception area, bar area and near the main entrance.
All staff will be wearing PPE including masks, gloves and aprons, and these will also be available for guests on request, along with disinfectant wipes for guests’ peace of mind.
We are very much looking forward to our new way of working and missed having guests in the hotel over the past few months.
The hospitality trade without guests is no fun. We need to shine again and do what we do best!
