Leading mental health therapy provider expands into new premises as it celebrates awards commendation

05th Jul

A multi-award-winning mental health and emotional wellbeing provider is opening a new therapy space in Hull in response to increased demand for its services.

More accessible and with free parking, the new premises of Fortis Therapy & Training, in the Louis Pearlman Centre, just off the Clive Sullivan Way, will be open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, with some evening appointments also available to help with the influx of inquiries the company has seen over the past few months.

Alexis Powell-Howard (left), managing director of Fortis Therapy & Training and TEDx speaker, said: “To be in a position to expand after the events of the last 18 months is a bittersweet achievement for us. For the business of course the growth is fantastic news, but in the wider community – both locally and across the UK – it just means that even more people are struggling.

“As each month of the pandemic passed, we received more and more inquiries from individuals – men, women, and children, schools and businesses, all getting in touch because they needed our support. The challenges that Covid-19 has presented all of us with have profoundly affected everyone, at every age, in every circumstance, and we are still seeing the demand for services, for help, increasing.

“Not only are we pleased to be able to open a new space in Hull, a more central and accessible space at that, but we are also recruiting for more therapists. The demand is there, people need our help, and we need experienced therapists to join us to be able to deliver it, maintaining our award-winning customer service experience.”

With a new space opening in Hull, Alexis and the Fortis team are looking to recruit more therapists. And it’s not just Hull where skilled professionals are needed. Fortis is looking for experienced therapists to work with adults, children, and young people with varying complexities as well as coaches and trainers. Associates will be working across Grimsby, Louth, Hull, and Scunthorpe as well as online with clients across the UK.

A few weeks ago, Fortis was shortlisted for the This Can Happen Awards 2021 in two categories – Best Mental Health Consultancy and Best Covid-19 Company Response – External.

This year, there were a record-breaking number of entries submitted to the 26 judges across 17 categories, and Fortis was named as Highly Commended in the Best Mental Health Consultancy Award during the live-streamed awards ceremony that took place on June 24.

Alexis added: “We are so thrilled to have been awarded Highly Commended for Mental Health Consultancy of the Year – especially as not every category named a Highly Commended business. To be recognised in the This Can Happen Awards is incredible. We were in amazing company and feel totally inspired by the incredible work being done across the globe.

“To be recognised alongside these truly phenomenal, national and global, companies really is the biggest compliment. To have the work we are doing at Fortis commended at such a level is testament to all the hard work our dedicated team puts into everything that they do.”
