Humber Business Week dates announced for 2021

28th May

The week-long programme has subsequently been provisionally penciled in for June 7-11 next year.
Mrs Lavery says the cancellation of this year’s programme has “left a huge hole” in the annual business calendar.
However, she has urged businesses to take advantage of an online schedule of events being led by the Humber Economic Resilience Group in the absence of the usual networking opportunities provided by Biz Week.
The new region-wide group, which includes the Humber LEP, the four Humber local authorities and leading membership and business support organisations from across the region, came together to co-ordinate the local response to the economic impact of the coronavirus.
It works to ensure vital information and resources are shared with local businesses, helping them access vital support and advice in the current challenging times.
The online events are being staged next week, from June 1-5 – the dates that Humber Business Week had been scheduled to take be held this year.
The week-long programme is aimed at helping businesses “rethink and rebuild together”, and Mrs Lavery says it is an initiative “warmly welcomed” given the absence of the physical Humber Business Week this year.
“We took the decision to cancel Humber Business Week for 2020 as we recognise that the week largely relies on businesses themselves organising and staging events which, at this time, most would find impossible.
“We always say it is a week for business, delivered by local businesses. We simply couldn’t expect people to be planning events this year, even online.
“We also firmly believe that one of the major strengths of Humber Business Week is the bringing together of so many people from businesses across the region physically, offering huge networking opportunities.
“Given Business Week isn’t happening this year, we are delighted to see the members of the Humber Economic Resilience Group providing something different and staging online events throughout next week which can offer relevant and vital support.
“It is our intention to bring Humber Business Week back in 2021 and we are delighted to say we already have the support of the major stakeholders to do so.
“We feel that in 12 months’ time the thirst and desire to get back together as a business community – and demonstrate the strength of commerce and industry across our region, will be a huge thing to celebrate.
“Our aim is certainly to stage perhaps the most important Humber Business Week of all in 2021 and we look forward to helping businesses achieve that.”
