Hull Trains drives job growth with enhanced onboard offer

15th Nov

Hull Trains, one of the UK’s leading open-access train operators, has announced the creation of 12 permanent roles to support its ongoing commitment to enhance the industry-leading onboard experiences for its customers.

The roles include nine onboard hosts and three service centre assistants based in Hull, reflecting the company’s dedication to customer satisfaction and the continued popularity of its services which connect Beverley and London with destinations such as Grantham and Doncaster.

Coming as a direct result of Hull Trains’ recent decision to implement an at-seat food and drink service within Standard Class, new roles are an exciting development for the operator and also good news for the local economy.

Following a 12-month trial proven popular among customers, Hull Trains has chosen to make to make the service a permanent offer. The decision is in response to great customer feedback and bolsters the reputation of the company as a forward-thinking operator.

The new jobs are part of Hull Trains’ broader mission to enhance customer experience, with the train operator achieving an industry-leading 96% satisfaction rating in a survey early this year.

Louise Mendham, service delivery director at Hull Trains, added: “The addition of 12 permanent roles demonstrates our commitment to delivering the best possible journey for our customers and supporting our team as we grow. Even with such strong customer satisfaction, we’re continually looking for ways to improve our services.

“The new roles and enhanced food and drink options underscore Hull Trains’ commitment to quality, convenience, and sustainable practices, offering customers a satisfying experience on every journey.”

As part of the expanded food and drink offering, Hull Trains is also introducing new snack boxes, providing customers with a selection of tasty options. These include traditional ploughman’s fare, a tapas selection and a plant-based box. Younger travellers can also enjoy snack favourites and fun activities to keep them entertained onboard.

Sustainability also remains a focus, as all packaging for the new snack box range is made from FSC-certified, fully recyclable cardboard. Hull Trains’ supplier, Jacq out the Box, is a female-owned business and the leading UK snack box supplier within the travel sector.
