Hull-based green cleaning company Bio-D has introduced a new pick-up point for customers, allowing orders to be collected within two hours of placing on its website.
Customers and businesses will benefit from the free to collect service from Bio-D’s fulfilment site at Innovation Drive near Clough Road. The new service will help to further reduce Bio-D’s environmental impact by reducing carbon emissions generated from delivering orders to the Hull and East Riding area.
Lloyd Atkin (pictured), managing director at Bio-D, said: “Sustainability is behind everything we do here at Bio-D, from the suppliers we use, to how the factory is powered and the ingredients that go into our products. That’s why creating our pick-up point for local Bio-D customers is a natural addition to the business.
“With a long-term objective of becoming net-zero, we are putting in every effort to minimise our carbon emissions. However, for the emissions that we can’t avoid we make sure to invest in schemes around the world to remove the same amount from the atmosphere to balance the scales.”
The pick-up point will also act as a return point for Bio-D’s 20-litre containers, which are cleaned, refilled and reused to form part of the company’s closed-loop laundering system. To be accepted, all containers will need to be capped and in a good condition, with product labels still attached.
Bio-D, which was first founded in Hull in 1989, recently secured its B Corporation certification. Certified B Corporations are considered leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy, measuring a company’s entire social and environmental impact.
Bio-D is the first B Corporation certified business in Hull, with fewer than 1,000 companies in the UK reaching the required standards for the certification.
