Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HEY LEP) has collaborated with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), Humber Branch to deliver an event for employers and HR professionals to highlight the positive impact of recruiting and retaining diverse talent.
Next month’s event, Growing Your Talent Pool: Recruiting to Maximise Creativity and Productivity, will be opened by James Newman, HEY LEP chairman.
The theme aligns with one of the LEP’s key priorities – a skilled, healthy and inclusive economy by helping employers to create inclusive employment opportunities.
Lutfur Ali, senior policy adviser at CIPD, will deliver the keynote session which will look at how equality, diversity and inclusion can be a catalyst and add value in helping to deliver a skilled and inclusive economy.
Other sessions include “Unconscious bias and the diverse workplace”, facilitated by Tracy Todd and Jill Wilson, directors and co-founders of the Equality Practice, while Cheryl Winter, lead coach and neurodiversity consultant for Creased Puddle, will share the benefits of neurodiversity in the workplace.
The event will be held from 9am to 12:30pm on Thursday, February 29, at the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel, in Willerby.
HEY LEP will also be launching a new project that will support small and medium sized enterprises to improve recruitment and retention.
This will provide high-quality HR consultancy support with up to two days of free HR support provided by CIPD-approved consultants.
In addition, there will be a range of organisations attending who can provide information and support to help create a more diverse workforce.
