Fintech networking event to be first of its kind in Birmingham

29th Apr

Following the success of its first flagship event of 2022, Midlands Cyber will be launching Fintech Secured – Next Generation Cyber in June.

The industry networking event on June 7 will be the first of its kind in Birmingham, bringing together thought leaders and service applications specialists for an evening of industry networking.

Midlands Cyber’s FinTech Secured event aims to showcase the work of leading stakeholders in the research and development of fintech and financial security. FinTech’s academic innovators, CEOs and company founders, entrepreneurs, contractors, investors and policymakers are encouraged to register now to discuss, participate, network and put their questions to our panel of industry experts.

The cluster will be joined by a host of industry and academic specialists. Panel speakers include Professor Vladlena Benson, director of Aston University’s Cyber Security Innovation Centre and serving on the EU’s Agency for Cybersecurity task force defining the Cybersecurity Skills Framework at the EU level. Prof Benson will be joined by contacts from within the crypto industry and offer insight on illicit money trends and flows in financial security.

User of contactless EMV may be interested in the insights of Tom Chothia, reader in cyber security at the University of Birmingham, on how the vulnerabilities of Apple Pay and Visa could enable hackers to ‘Take £1,000 from a locked iPhone’.

Registrations are now open to join the cluster on June 7 at the Compound, Birmingham.
