Beverley’s Doggy Deli gets #SBS boost from Theo Paphitis

13th Jul

A Beverley company has received a business boost from retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.

Last week, Georgina Martin, owner of the Doggy Deli, tweeted Theo about her business during Small Business Sunday and was one of six weekly winners to gain a retweet and Instagram post by Theo to his near-500,000 Twitter followers.

The weekly initiative, set up by Paphitis in 2010, now has more than 3,000 #SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK.

Paphitis shared Georgina’s message and, as a result, her website has seen more followers and extra orders for the company’s ethically sourced natural dog treats and accessories. It has also been profiled on the #SBS website, which is exclusive to all Small Business Sunday winners.

The Doggy Deli has hit the headlines before, having created an internet sensation with its dog-focused TikTok videos.

Georgina said, “I am over the moon to have been recognised by Theo. We started just over a year ago, and while we have a fantastic reputation in the local area, we have yet to break through nationally. Since the announcement our website has had a large increase in visitors and orders, and people are coming in to the store to congratulate us.

“After a tough year, it’s really been a moral-booster for my little business.”

Paphitis, who owns Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue, Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK.

“My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS retweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish the Doggy Deli every success.”

Anyone looking for a retweet from Paphitis should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5pm and 7.30pm and include the hashtag #SBS.

Six lucky businesses are retweeted every Monday at 8pm and then invited to enter their profile on the new website, attend the annual #SBS networking event and take advantage of the networking opportunities.
