Array of support for businesses on offer at oneHumber online events week

26th May

The event is being organised by the Humber Economic Resilience Group – a 20-plus-strong consortium including the Humber LEP, the four Humber local authorities and business support and membership organisations, who joined forces to support the business community through the economic impact of the pandemic.
The week is running from June 1-5, during what would have been Humber Business Week before the event was cancelled. The flagship Humber event is set to return in 2021.
The oneHumber week features almost 30 events covering an array of topics and issues of interest to Humber businesses as the lockdown eases. The organisers are hoping as many people as possible access this free advice and support across the week.
Monday begins with Marketing Humber’s flagship event – People Power: Unlocking the Post-Lockdown Opportunity. This event, taking place from 9.30am to 11.30am, will explore how employee engagement can help boost productivity. There will also be events from the IoD East Yorkshire and the Humber Business Growth Hub.
Tuesday will see events taking place from the Supply Chain Network, Humber Business Growth Hub, the Business Hive with E-Factor, We are IVE, CATCH, the Edenic Group and the IoD East Yorkshire throughout the day, covering topics including safe working online, the Creative Imperative and how we might approach ‘the new normal’.
On Wednesday, there is a full day of events scheduled – including webinars and masterclasses from CATCH, the Humber Business Growth Hub, the Business Hive with E-Factor, the Supply Chain Network, and the University of Hull’s Business School, focusing on topics such as managing mental health, good customer service, bidding for contracts, and how artificial intelligence will be used to transform businesses in the fourth industrial revolution.
On Thursday, E-Factor presents a panel discussion, 7 Steps for a more Resilient Business, while there are also events from the Humber Business Growth Hub, Andrew Jackson Solicitors LLP, the University of Hull’s Business School and the Department for International Trade, which closes the day with a webinar on how it can support businesses while trading internationally.
Finally, Friday closes the programme with an event from the University of Hull between 10am and 11am – Develop your business with funded Innovation Support from the University of Hull – while the Humber Business Growth Hub presents Embracing Digital Technology in a Post Covid-19 World between 10am and 12pm.
Events can be booked via a dedicated website at
Stephen Parnaby, chairman of the Humber LEP, said: “It’s been fantastic to see so many organisations put their efforts into creating events to support local businesses through this difficult period. We need to do everything we can to get the economy moving again safely to protect people’s livelihoods, and this week will provide a focal point for that.
“If you’re yet to book on to any events we urge you to do so now. There are events taking place from Monday to Friday, at all different times and with a wide range of expertise on offer – all for free.”
Diana Taylor, managing director of Marketing Humber, said: “It has been great to see the oneHumber – Online week go from strength to strength, a continuation of the energy and collaboration that has been demonstrated over the past couple of months from the Humber Economic Resilience Group.
“Now it is time to promote this opportunity and make as many businesses as possible aware of the support available – the events are open to everyone to provide tools, resources, vital information to help take those next steps to recovery.
“It is essential that we continue to work together, and help businesses rebuild, with the right plans in place.  This may be how to best engage with employees, innovate new strategies, or make the most of HR, legal or financial support. I encourage everyone to take part and help spread the word to those that need it most.”
