An Appointment With… Sophie Dees of Reality Solutions

01st May

From entering the company with no previous IT knowledge, she has gone on to helm the company’s marketing efforts.
After juggling a number of jobs including a sales apprenticeship, working at a chip shop and a bar, Sophie left Hull at 19 to go backpacking around Europe. This was the first of many foreign adventures she has been on.
On her return she took up a job as sales executive at Reality Solutions. Over the next six years she would hold a few different roles including sales and accounts manager and operations manager before becoming a company director in January 2018.
It is in digital marketing that Sophie has found her passion and she has achieved a number of marketing qualifications alongside her job, including her level 4 CIM Digital Marketing Diploma.
Sophie is currently studying to complete her Level 6 CIM Digital Professional, Digital Marketing Diploma by 2021.
Sophie made her impact after redesigning the company’s website, marketing collateral and launching some innovative marketing campaigns. With the help of her team, Reality Solutions’ online digital presence has been completely transformed over the past two years.
However, another big way she has made her mark is through her passion for charity work.
This year, Sophie introduced a policy that allows every employee to have paid leave to donate their time to a local charity. Not only this, but the company will provide a monetary donation to the charity on completion.
Sophie’s efforts for charity are pretty impressive, too. She’s completed the Hull and Humber Half-Marathon, the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge and a three-day jungle trek in Thailand, all to raise money for Victim Support and HEY Mind.
She also spent three weeks volunteering in Peru and Columbia and is currently fundraising to take LifeStraws (portable water filters) to residents of the housing she helped build there.
The company’s support and value of each of its employees is central to her motivation to do all this. She is very grateful for the opportunities she has been given at the company and this has resulted in her dedication becoming her passion.
In her own words, the best things about working for Reality Solutions include the “fun, vibrant office” and personality of the people working there as well as the appreciation shown by the company.
And as well as travelling around the world and doing charity work, she enjoys gin and rum making!
