Jess Williams: 10 years of marketing and sales consultancy

07th Mar

In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’re featuring prominent and inspiring women in business in the North East region. Jessica Williams, Founder and Managing Director at Just Williams, spoke to us about equality, communities, and professional development.

Just Williams is a certified B-Corp sales and marketing agency based in Stockton-on-Tees, at the heart of the Tees Valley, specialising in helping owner-managed businesses grow and succeed.

Established in 2015, the business celebrates 10 years of operation this year. The company has evolved from initially offering sales consultancy to a full-service sales and marketing agency, delivering expert solutions to thousands of businesses and individuals across the UK.

Marketing and sales work hand-in-hand, and the benefit of a combined solution is a more cost-effective and impactful way for a business to grow.

Jessica spoke to us about diversity and equality in business. “Equality and equity are non-negotiables, regardless of gender for me and my business. Sales is still a male dominated profession, and as a female-led business I am keen to pave the way for future opportunities.

“I believe in diversity in every aspect. It’s what keeps us alive as a business, and Just Williams is leading the way.”

The business landscape has changed over the 10 years since Jessica started Just Williams, and it continues to change still.

“It was a huge step for us becoming a certified B-Corp. I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved including supporting our communities through a broad and diverse range of solutions, raising over £42,000 for charitable causes, and working with so many local businesses.

“Our ethos as a business has always been to work with and support our local communities. We’re on a journey together, and we can and will continue to do more.”

We asked Jessica what advice she has for others who may be at the start of their business journey.

“Get a mentor!” Jessica said. “Mentorship is crucial – I’m a huge believer in continued professional development. You should never stop learning; be inquisitive, ask for guidance, and access any local enterprise programmes available to you.

“If you’re thinking of setting up a business, I say go for it. There’s never a ‘good time’, and you’ll only regret the chances that you don’t take.

“Above all, as Henry Ford once said: whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re probably right.”
