A groundbreaking sports and gaming hub has launched in Hull’s Old Town, setting the stage for ambitious expansion plans across the UK and internationally.

The innovative £1.6 million Federation of Sport opened its doors for a soft launch last weekend. With every available slot fully booked, the event drew sports enthusiasts and tech-savvy individuals alike, all eager to experience the cutting-edge facilities first-hand.

The event offered an exclusive preview of the new sim sports venue, featuring sim racing, high-performance gaming PCs, and a sophisticated golf simulator.

Antonio Tombanane, one of those behind the venture, said: “The Federation of Sport is not just about playing games or watching sports, it’s about creating a new kind of community space where technology and physical activity intersect.

“The overwhelming success of the event has given us a significant boost in confidence as we prepare for the official grand opening in spring 2025.

“We’re thrilled with the community’s response to our soft launch, and the valuable feedback we receive over the next few weeks will be instrumental in perfecting our offerings.

“As the countdown to the official launch begins, sports and gaming enthusiasts alike can look forward to a venue that promises to revolutionise the way we interact with sports and technology. The Federation of Sport is not just opening its doors, it’s opening up a whole new world of possibilities for community engagement, skill development, and entertainment.”

The business has attracted several international investors. Michel Croes, based in the Netherlands, has a proven track record in founding and acquiring successful companies, brings expertise in building and scaling businesses combined with his background in business administration from the University of South Florida.

He said: “The sell-out weekend has exceeded our expectations and reinforced our belief in the Federation of Sport’s potential. The response from attendees demonstrates that we’re on the right track in creating a global sports and gaming experience. We are already moving forward with our expansion plans for the rest of the UK and internationally.”

Shaun Larvin, landlord of King William House, said: “The opening of the Federation of Sport, alongside the recent launch of Pasco’s, is another exciting step in the ongoing regeneration of this area. We’re pleased to see innovative businesses choosing King William House as their home, contributing to the vibrant transformation of Hull’s Old Town.”
