Founders of Women in Business to share inspirational stories at fundraising anniversary event

23rd Aug

Women in Business Hull is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a special charity event in Beverley next month.

The event at Beverley Barn on Thursday, September 9, will feature guest speakers, live entertainment, a light supper and other treats. The founding members of WIB will speak about what it was like being a woman in business almost three decades ago, with amusing stories and business insight.

Founding members Ann Gray, Catherine Lilley, Jan Emptage, Janice Rawlings, Victoria Aitken and Yvette Stafford will give guests an informative and at times hilarious insight into the business world when they first formed the group, telling about the challenges of setting up Women In Business and how after a few years the Women of Achievement Awards were created.

Organisers have hired the entire space at the Beverley Barn, in Long Lane, and are restricting tickets to approximately half its capacity to make sure everyone feels comfortable.

The event is in aid of HER Breast Friends, with all profits from ticket sales, raffle tickets and donations going to support the local cancer charity.

Several local businesses are offering their services or products free of charge to help fundraise, including Sugar ’n’ Spice Cakes, which is donating a 25th anniversary cake, Little Wold Vineyard, which is providing welcome drinks, as well as complimentary gift bags with hand-made chocolates by Ellie Birch, from Elliegantly Made.
